Coast Guard Birthday Life Touch’s Operation Appreciation and PJ's Coffee will celebrate the 226th birthday of our nation's Coast Guard on Thursday, August 4th at 9:00-10:00 a.m. by treating all U. S. military, past or present, to a cup of coffee and a cookie at THE SPOT on the square in El Dorado. Celebrating the branches of our armed forces is a project of Life Touch's Opera-tion Appreciation. Life Touch is a level III partner of We Honor Veterans. The South Arkansas Historical Society is pleased to host a reception and book signing for Dr. Ken Bridges, professor of history at SouthArk, on Thursday, August 11 from 6 to 8 pm. Dr. Bridges new book, "In An Arkansas Minute" was released in April. Please join us in celebrating with him.

High school football combine on Saturday, August 13, 2016 in Junction City, AR. My reasoning for this combine is to start a showcase to help promote the young men in our area. Our area high schools and the talented young men aren’t widely seen, or they are getting overlooked. There is often little to no recruitment happening, and I'm trying to change that. In addition to changing recruitment practices, I want to change these young men lives. I want to help these guys get out of the streets, enter into college, and realize that there is a world outside of our small towns. This event is for 2016 High School Juniors and Seniors.

BancorpSouth and the Arkansas Women's Business Center present a Small Business Workshop, providing tools and tips to help you start and grow your small business. Monday, August 22nd will focus on starting a small business while Tuesday, August 23rd will feature information for existing small business owners.

After being open for 30 years The Salvation Army will have a Grand - Reopening of their Dining Facility located at 419 S. Madison on August 25th, 2016 at 10:00AM.
