May 18 Power of the Purse - A Fundraiser for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library
It sounds almost too good to be true - free books for children in Union County, Arkansas! To support childhood literacy and the United Way of Union County’s Dolly Parton Imagination Library, the United Way of Union County will host Power of the Purse on Thursday, May 18 at the Granite Club in El Dorado. The Power of the Purse will feature a fashion show from local merchants; a silent auction, which includes purses from local and national celebrities; heavy hors d’oeuvres and beer and wine will be available for purchase. Individual tickets for the event are $35. Group tickets for businesses are also available. Thanks to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and the United Way of Union County, children under the age of 5 years can now have access to their own library where a book is mailed to each enrolled child every month until their fifth birthday. There are currently more than 1,200 children enrolled in the program. In order to enroll more children, we must raise funds to continue to advance the program. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit United Way of Union County’s early literacy initiative – the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. The book program is offered to families at no cost. Parents can register their eligible child/children online at www.imaginationlibrary.com. To purchase tickets, donate to the silent auction or get more information, please contact Alexis Alexander at alexis@unitedwayunioncounty.com or 870.862.4903.
