Two days of fun for the whole entire family! Travel and AAU basketball teams from Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas compete for trophies and medals. A Slam Dunk , a 3 Point Shooting contest and other entertainment will pack one full hour on Sunday starting at 1 pm. A drawing for flat screen TV's will also be held at 3pm on Sunday. Come enjoy a movie night at Barton Public Library! We will be showing "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Fine Them". Explore a new era of the Wizarding World before Harry Potter! This Movie is PG-13, so Parental Guidance is suggested. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.

Senior Circle, a Medical Center of South Arkansas program, is now accepting new members. Senior Circle is a program for individuals age 50 or better who are interested in pursuing an active lifestyle, learning about health and wellness and meeting others. Events and activities are designed to help you stay healthy, vibrant and active. We encourage you to pursue the things you love, try new hobbies and interests and meet new friends.

This FREE workshop, hosted by Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, will teach you how to plant a garden that will attract butterflies. This class will meet at the South Arkansas Arboretum.

Clean Harbors is offering a FREE collection of household hazardous waste for El Dorado and Union County residents. Open the third Saturday of every month April through September from 8 a.m. to noon. Most items are accepted, including used oil and filters, batteries, paints, antifreeze, degreasers, dry cleaning fluids, herbicides, pesticides, poisons, pool chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, over-the-counter medicines, butane and propane cylinders, drain cleaners, aerosol cans, car batteries, and more. Bring items in a sturdy disposable container. Items NOT accepted include: smoke detectors, fire arms, explosives, compressed gases, radioactive waste, business generated waste, biomedical waste, tires, appliances, e-waste and trash. Arkansas Connections Academy a virtual public school for students in K through 10th grades is offering parents throughout Arkansas the opportunity to learn more about this highly accountable, high-quality virtual public school during local information sessions. During the session, participants will discuss the family’s role in the education process through topics such as organizing the home for the most effective schooling environment and balancing time when more than one child is enrolled in the program. Participants also will learn how Arkansas Connections Academy’s community coordinators arrange field trips and extracurricular activities for students and parents across the state as a means of education, fun and networking with others enrolled in the school. The school provides all curriculum materials – several large boxes of textbooks per child, workbooks and hands-on materials – that make up the core of Arkansas Connections Academy’s print-rich curriculum. Each Arkansas Connections Academy student is also assigned a professional teacher to oversee learning and assess student progress. Arkansas Connections Academy is governed by a Board of Directors composed of Arkansas residents, while its curriculum and other services will be contracted through Connections Education, a leading provider of high-quality; highly accountable online learning that has been supporting schools for over a decade.
